Te Puaruruhau is the tertiary Child Protection Service for Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland.
Te Puaruruhau also provides telephone consultation to any service provider in Aotearoa |New Zealand.
Age of children seen:
- 0-18 years (some older if developmental age is young)
Catchment area – varies based on reason for referral:
- Acute sexual assault assessments - all of Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland (Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau, and Waitematā)
- Historical sexual assault and physical injury – central Tāmaki Makaurau |Auckland (Te Toka Tumai)
- Injury requiring tertiary medical care (i.e. provided at Starship Children’s Hospital such as paediatric neurosurgery, paediatric orthopaedics, PICU management) – all of Aotearoa | New Zealand
For tertiary services outside of Central Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland:
- contact the local on-call paediatrician or local post-sexual assault medical provider
