Te Puaruruhau is the tertiary Child Protection Service for Tāmaki  Makaurau | Auckland.

Te Puaruruhau also provides telephone consultation to any service provider in Aotearoa |New Zealand. 

Age of children seen:

  • 0-18 years (some older if developmental age is young)

Catchment area – varies based on reason for referral:

  • Acute sexual assault assessments - all of Tāmaki  Makaurau | Auckland (Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau, and Waitematā)
  • Historical sexual assault and physical injury – central Tāmaki  Makaurau |Auckland (Te Toka Tumai)
  • Injury requiring tertiary medical care (i.e. provided at Starship Children’s Hospital such as paediatric neurosurgery, paediatric orthopaedics, PICU management) – all of Aotearoa | New Zealand
