The Child Protection Paediatric Society of Australasia (CPPSA) is committed to protecting the privacy of members’ personal information. This privacy policy is to help you understand how the CPPSA collects and uses your personal information obtained via the website, located at https://cppsa.au/ 

By joining the CPPSA and by using our website, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and all other types of processing of your personal information, as described in this policy.

What personal information do we collect? 

When signing up to become a member of the CPPSA, you will be asked to provide your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, identity (optional), job description/title and curriculum vitae (CV). 

  • your CV will be viewed by one or more Board member(s) to determine if you meet the requirements for membership and once your application is approved, your CV will be deleted from our web service 

Other information collected by us includes your attendance at CPPSA events, online store purchases (e.g. educational webinars) and any other information that we may ask you for, or that you choose to provide us with.

Why do we collect personal information?

We collect personal information to provide you with the best service experience possible on the website. 

Personal information is used to:

  • provide membership services
  • communicate with our members
  • provide updates and information on upcoming events such as webinars and conferences (for the CPPSA and its affiliates)
  • contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of the current services or of potential new services that may be offered

How do we collect your personal information?

We collect personal information from you: 

  • whenever you input such information into the website, including signing up for membership and registering for events
  • annually at membership renewal, to confirm that your personal information is up to date and correct

Does the website use cookies?

The website sends to your computer a cookie that is required for identifying your session while you are logged in, and for maintaining your settings as you visit other pages in your session. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. It does not contain any personally identifiable information. The website may use other cookies in the future for reasons such as gathering usage statistics. You can change settings in your browser to accept or decline cookies if you wish – the session cookie is required for logging in, but other cookies can be disabled.

How is information stored and protected?

The website, and the database which stores the website's content and membership information, are hosted securely by Amazon Web Services in their Australian data centres, protected by firewalls. While accessing the website in a browser, data is encrypted in transit over an HTTPS connection.

Individual members can access their own personal information by logging into the website, where it is the responsibility of each user to use a strong password that is not used for accessing any other services. 

Credit card transactions on the website are processed by the eWAY payment gateway. CPPSA cannot see and does not store credit card details taken by other methods such as over the phone.

Who will have access to the information?

Your information is only accessible to a limited number of people who have special access rights to the website, namely the CPPSA administration personnel, and are required to keep the information confidential. This includes our service providers who assist us in operating the website and support personnel acting in the normal course of their duties.

The CPPSA will not provide personal information to third parties except when required to do so by law or as specified by the constitution.

Links on the CPPSA site to external entities are not covered within this Policy.

How do I amend my personal information?

You can amend your personal information at any time by logging into the CPPSA website or by emailing us via admin@cppsa.au

How do I report a concern about a breach of privacy?

If you have a complaint concerning the way we maintain the privacy of your personal information, please contact us via admin@cppsa.au. All complaints will be considered carefully and if we agree that your complaint is well founded, we will, in consultation with you, take appropriate steps to rectify the problem. 

Changes to this policy

The CPPSA reserves the right to change this policy at any time by notifying users of the existence of a new privacy policy.  By continuing to use our website after such a time, you agree that you accept the policy as modified.
