Clinicians are often faced with diagnostic dilemmas, especially if children and infants present with unusual symptoms. Presented by Dr Otilie Tork, Consultant Paediatrician, this webinar centred around an audit of case presentations to Queensland Child Health (QCH) from 2017- current in whom drug ingestion is identified as a cause. The drugs ingested are largely illicit, often in the context of parental substance misuse, and this information is not always forthcoming.
The presentation discussed and highlighted the need for medical staff to have a high index of suspicion when symptoms do not add up.
